How does one of the most iconic brands win the constant battle to maintain cultural relevance?
Six such brand icons were battling for relevance at one of America’s largest food manufacturers, and the Jim Stengel Company was brought in to inject a dose of purpose to improve their results. We conducted a series of two-day workshops, leading each brand’s multifunctional team through the process of discovering the brand’s unique point of view and authentic ‘reason for being.’ As an outcome, each team found a more inspiring “higher ground” upon which to position its brand. Along the way, the teams uncovered exciting opportunities for product and marketing innovation. The company’s flagship brand used the work to spur a successful re-stage, which has since inspired the company’s other brands to follow suit.

How did a world leader in pharma leverage purpose to rise above the industry’s sea of sameness?
Over several years, the Jim Stengel Company partnered with a visionary CMO and 10 category-leading brands to shift their product and marketing strategies to be purpose-inspired and purpose-driven. The aim was to create a competitive edge by embedding purpose into the thinking, planning, and actions of cross-functional brand teams, while also increasing relevance to consumers, physicians, and employees.
JSC guided these teams in developing an inspiring Brand Purpose and framework, and actively supported company meetings and global training. This led to breakthrough communications, industry-first campaigns, more patient-focused roadmaps, progressive HR policies, and stronger team alignment around a shared purpose. One leading brand used this approach to surpass expectations in a challenging product launch.

How Can Building Marketing Capabilities Unlock Business Growth?
When the CMO of a Fortune 500 financial services company recognized her marketing team lacked the unified skills and strategic approach needed to drive business results, she turned to the Jim Stengel Company for help. While there were talented marketers and isolated areas of excellence, the organization struggled with silos, inconsistent processes, and no common language for brand-building. The Jim Stengel Company conducted in-depth interviews across the organization to understand needs and identify capability gaps, ultimately recommending a targeted curriculum and marketing immersion experiences.
This work laid the foundation for a proprietary “Marketing Way,” a unifying framework covering key areas such as brand purpose, customer insight, agency leadership, and campaign development. JSC designed and led four full-day workshops to train the entire marketing organization, signaling a clear commitment to capability building. The program boosted confidence, fostered pride, and led to more effective, integrated marketing, resulting in stronger programs and measurable business impact.
